Creative block is a mind state when our brain is not producing ideas and not functioning the way we want it. It is a glitch in the system where you get hang-ups and blanked-out. There is simply nothing there and you will think that you lost it. It’s like having a sudden amnesia, not remembering any of your talents and skills.
For some people, I may be exaggerating, but trust me, others may feel way worse than I just described.
The one and only culprit for this frustration is FEAR. The following are familiar scenarios of fear in disguise:
I just need get this right the first time so people will see that I am good enough and get accepted. This is a once and a life time chance. Don’t blow it!
Last year I won first place, well this year, no excuse for bringing home the trophy home.
I am just afraid that people will laugh over my stupid ideas.
So many things to do, so little time I have. Oh no! My mind is everywhere.
Etc.
Break through fear and understand these game rules:
Take it easy. Do your best and enjoy the process. The result is not the only thing that matters. It’s what has shaped you that is invaluable.
There is no stupid ideas. There’s only better ideas.
Get enough rest and don’t burn yourself out.
It’s okay to loose, learn from it and become better. Failure is not permanent.
Never stop learning and learn from the best.
Exercise Makes Great Minds
Just like any part of your body organs, your brain becomes stronger and more functional if it is well trained. In order to grow creatively you need to step outside your comfort zone. We need to exercise our brain’s neuron by engaging in some new activity, place or event. When you stretch your mind, it never returns to its previous shape.
