Photography for me is not just a job, it’s a passion. It’s what I love. Capturing moments in time so that we can hold onto them for just a smidgen longer, that is what I’m all about. I’ve been interested in photography since I was young, always anxiously awaiting the day I could pick up my negatives from the store and see what I had captured. I became more serious about my photography in 2007 as a creative outlet, before I knew it I was in business and loving every minute of it.
What’s one thing you wish you knew when you started your career?
I’d have to say that if I was able to go back and do something differently I probably wouldn’t change a thing. I feel that every experience I have gone through in this journey has been necessary and taught me something along the way.
All of that said I would probably have saved myself some cash by purchasing the more expensive and proper equipment right away instead of trying to make due with what I could purchase and ending up having to spend more money in the long run.
I’ve noticed a lot of people recently telling me they are starting a photography business because they like to take pictures and it will be easy money…I thought the same thing…I was very very wrong. I have learnt that while I LOVE my job, it involves long long hours and a huge investment of money and personal time. Mastering this craft is something nobody can ever fully accomplish, there is always something new to learn and you are always finding new surroundings and people who inspire you to do better.
