Describe how does Mathematic feel at the starting of a new project?
It depends on the project. Generally it means a bit of working out and developing solutions to shoot or create the correct visual FX in a film. The feelings are generally excitement to get started but as I say this depends on what is to be made of the potential film/project.

Where does Mathematic get inspiration from?
Lots of things, our designers, animators and producers are keen followers of films, animation techniques, art, graphics, photography, anything with motion or visual creativity.

Could you share any insight for people (or group) just entering the profession?
Be aware of trends, set up a website with a reel and be specific about what you put in a reel whether its a montage or just clips of your work. Time is always a pressure so sometimes its just best to show the highlights of your films.

Who is the person Mathematic look up to in the movie industry? Why so?
There are a lot of groups that are inspiring and innovative. The Mill seem to have a great balance of  creative and innovative solutions. At the same time for the UFO side.

How does Mathematic overcome creative block?
It doesn’t come into the equation generally. The people we work with always have aspiring new ideas that there is always way around it. Generally we speak to the agency or commissioner of a project and work with them to find a solution.

What’s one thing Mathematic wishes it knew when beginning its career?
It’s too difficult a question to answer, our way of working means that we need to learn on the way anyway its never a straight path so any mistakes that have been made where needed to learn from them too!

How does Mathematic see yourself 5 years from now?
Bigger and with an even more explosive portfolio of work.

If Mathematic has online portfolio (website/awards/credits/client’s showcase), what is the URL?
www.mathematic.tv. we have just relaunched the site to explain more about how we work on projects and the behind the scenes of the studio and on shoots.
