I’m a 22 year old who recently graduated from college with a degree in Political Science. My long time hobby and love has been photography. There is nothing better than the feeling that you created something amazing, and I strive to do that with my photography.
Tell us about your unique creative style/ approach
An important part of my creative process is trying things differently. Although it doesn’t always work, trying new techniques, lighting, etc., can provide new perspectives and variety. Giving yourself options and multiple versions of a similar scene usually results in a better outcome.
A great artist/ photographer is…..
Irving Penn. I adore his work. The composition and creativity in his work is truly inspiring.
How do you promote/ showcase your work?
I have small galleries on several different websites, such as deviantart, flickr, etc., I’m hoping to have my own website soon.
Also, I often do promotional photography for local artists and dancers for free but in exchange for printed credit on their promotions.
What do you think about the Internet affecting the way of global communication 5 years from now?
The internet has already forged massive global connections in a few short years and I see it going much further. 2 years ago I was traveling in a remote part of Mongolia watching a local skin a lamb when he reached in his pocket, pulled out a phone, and started texting. In 5 years, I see him sending e-mails on his cell phone and pulling out his laptop for info on a better way to make mutton.
I am driven to…..
Constantly try to improve my photography. The only way to get better is to understand what you can and need to improve.
What do you like the smell of?
Clean linen sheets and cool summer mornings at sunrise. Clean linen that was hung outside to dry still smells like fresh air and wind. Cool summer mornings are always brisk, which provides a striking relief compared to the muggy day that follows. I also love the light at sunrise.
If you have online portfolio (website/awards/credits/client’s showcase), what is the URL?
