Tell us about you.
I’m a highschool student trying to figure out how to survive in an upside down world. I love the rain, lemonade, converse, and the radio. Most of my friends attend private schools while I’m stuck with the outcasts of a town with very little diversity. Most of my artwork’s inspiration can be traced back to the music I listen to, including Rock, Punk, and Alternative.
When was the first time you fell in love with the cartoon world? And why?
When I wan a toddler, I would watch Totoro over and over again. Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service also had a huge impact on how I turned out.
Where are you located now? Do you wish to be somewhere else at this moment, instead?
I live in the east coast of America in the tiniest, prettiest, seaside village. It was fun for the first 12 years but I want to move to the city of Boston very much. There are a lot more people and I’m familiar with the area.
What makes your works stand-out or different from other cartoon artist?
Most people can’t decide whether I draw cartoon art or anime art. People have also told me that they enjoy my artwork because of how much I have improved over the last few years.
Have you heard/visited www.somethingwelike.com before? Do you have any inputs to make it better?
I have never ever even heard of the website, but I like it very much. The idea is cute and simple and I hope nothing changes about it.
How does working professionally differ from being an amateur in your opinion?
I definitely consider myself to be an amateur, but I think a professional is someone who has a lot of experience and knowledge in doing what they love.
If you could meet w/ any artist (one) past or present, whom would it be?
I would be ecstatic if I was to meet Hayao Miyazaki, the greatest animator of all time, and probably the one person who has influenced my art more than anyone else.
Who (or what) is your biggest influence?
Miyazaki of course, Yun Kouga, Yana Toboso, and just the manga world as a whole.
What do you wish for this new year?
I hope to improve at backgrounds and coloring. Not to mention my style all together.
Tell us several good online resources for cartoon artist you recommend visiting?
Deviantart, Zerochan, and Tumblr. A lot of people post images that I can find inspiration from.
Do you have a style that you relate to the most?
Anime/ Manga style drawing above all, but I do relate to Western-style cartoons from time to time.
Can you offer any advice on how to build-up a portfolio / ‘getting your foot in the door’ for our readers wishing to start a career in this line of cartoon artist?
Honestly just draw anything. A shoe. A bubble gum wrapper. Your best friend. Even if they’re just doodles or messy sketches, it’s best to just start throwing stuff together. Eventually you’ll get going and it’ll be easy

Name 3 of your favorite cartoon characters. Please explain why?
My number one would be Stan Marsh from South Park. I can relate to him more than any other character I have ever seen. Panty form Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt is another one of my favorites because of her confidence in her looks and strength. Mikado Ryuugamine from Durarara is also pretty wonderful because of his hidden leadership qualities. It’s cute how unsure he is all the time!
Do you have anyone/company you would like to collaborate/work together?
If I could work on something with anyone, it would probably be aishaxnekox, a fellow artist on Deviantart. She’s super talented and one of my idols.
What are the cartoon artist equipment(s) do you currently own?
My bamboo tablet, mechanical pencils, and loads of paper.
Name 3 softwares (or tools) that you use the most, and tell us the function of each them.
I mainly use SAI for my digital art, but I use Oekaki drawing boards to challenge myself and Manga Studio Debut 4 to organize manga pages.
