Tell us about you.
Well I’m 25year old kid born and raised in Singapore which is a little dot on the world map. I’m married to my lovely wife, Angela for about 1 1/2 years now. I am currently working as a senior artist in Imaginary Friends Studios. I love Japanese superheros like Ultraman and Kamen riders, playing games like Street Fighter, Rock Band and collecting toys and figures. Also recently I am addicted to playing UFO catcher machines together with Angela which is really quite fun haha.
Where are you located?
Singapore
What do you do when you are not producing artwork?
I would be smashing drums or strumming guitars on Rock Band!
What drove you to become a digital artist?
I always enjoy watching anime and cartoons on tv and books back when I was a kid. Some of the anime i watched, like The Secret of the Blue Water and Evangelion by gainax really made an impact on me. so maybe thats what made me wanna to do something like that when I grow up.
How do you promote/sell/showcase your work?
Usually for me, I post my works up on deviantart, cghub and pixiv.
What’s your way(s) to balancing work and life?
During weekdays, its quite hard to spend time with my wife and my family as everyone is working or busy. So during weekends I would try not to lock myself in the room drawing or painting but instead spend more time with them and just have fun, relaxing or doing other crazy stuff.
A great digital artist is…..
In my opinion, someone who is able to use a program (i.e Photoshop) efficiently and effectively to paint something that rocks your socks off while not being too dependant on all the “shortcuts” in the program and is still capable of delivering awesome work traditionally. hope that made sense haha
Who is a comic artist that you look up to? Why so?
Tetsurou Ueyama. I really love his style of drawing women and action scences, you could really feel the impact of the motion and movement of the characters!
What do you think about the Internet and how it is affecting the visual communication business?
I think the internet is really a good way of communicating with people all around the world, its also good to source for references, inspirations or information you might need in an instant. It make it so much easier for artists to view each other’s work and also to reach out to a wider audience despite living in different countries.
What music are you listening lately?
Daft Punk!
Name 3 your favorite art books.
Popbot, The Art of Street Fighter and Solevision Mitsuyoshi
What do you like the smell of?
I like the smell of Chilli Crabs. Because I love food and the smell or thought of Chilli crabs just make me hungry!
If you have online portfolio (website/awards/credits/client’s showcase), what is the URL?
