Krisette Anne Lacuesta I often use an alias “SETSET”
Tell us about you.
I am 20 years old, born and grew up in Philippines. I am currently taking up BS Information Technology majoring Multimedia. I am also a freelance artist. I love exploring new things and draw everything that pops-up in my mind, though I’m not that good in drawing. I consider myself a lucky person, because I’m so blessed in many different ways.
When was the first time you fell in love with the digital art world? And why?
I actually start playing with Photoshop since 2008. But my passion in digital art grew when I met Vector X Vexel—a group of Filipino vector and vexel artist, on Facebook group last April 2011.
Where are you located now? Do you wish to be somewhere else at this moment, instead?
I am currently residing in the Philippines, I wish to go Singapore and California where Pixar Animation Studios are
What makes your works stand-out or different from other digital artist?
It’s probably the way I put my concepts to realization mostly by putting more details on the hair and play with it a little more? But honestly, right now I am not yet certain, it is not that easy task to analyze your own works. I just do whatever makes me feel more comfortable.
Have you heard/visited www.somethingwelike.com before? Do you have any inputs to make it better?
Yup! When Xtian Torrest share his interview on Facebook. And when I received the request of the interview was the second time I saw the page.
How does working professionally differ from being an amateur in your opinion?
Working professionally is more of to satisfy the client and my financial needs of course ? It’s quite difficult sometimes to work with a client since there will be time that you’re ideas doesn’t meet, but I do think that where the challenge goes. It is keeping your style making the boss happy.
Amateur is NO PRESSURE but a LOT of PLEASURE. It is really fun, because you don’t have to think of being rejected. As an artist, I always want to express my self through my works and I really enjoy when I do it my way.
If you could meet w/ any artist (one) past or present, whom would it be?
Evan Raditya Pratomo of Indonesia, I do love his work. Whenever I browse his portfolio, I always wish I could turn back to time during my childhood days.
Who (or what) is your biggest influence?
Vector X Vexel Philippines members and co-admin and Pixar.
What do you wish for this new year?
A Wacom pen tablet and more features for my work in different art sites.
Tell us several good online resources for digital artist you recommend visiting? Shadowness.com and Deviantart.com
Do you have a style that you relate to the most?
I am really so thrilled right now doing the hair detailing. I am just currently developing my style, but I will definitely find out what exactly it is soon.
Can you offer any advice on how to build-up a portfolio / ‘getting your foot in the door’ for our readers wishing to start a career in this line of digital artist ?
Always give/do your best when you’re making digital/traditional art, especially with your commissions. Don’t rush so that the quality of your art will not suffer. Put love on your art. Don’t compare your art from others and keep on exploring and be inspired.
Name 3 of your favorite (art) books/ magazines.
Actually, I don’t know any art book or magazine.
Do you have anyone/company you would like to collaborate/work together?
I can’t think of anyone as of now, but I have lots of pending collaborations with VxV members
What are the digital artist equipment(s) do you currently own?
Just my mouse w/ butterflies print.
Name 3 softwares that you use the most, and tell us the function of each them.
I’m just using 2 software; Photoshop and Illustrator. But most of my digital arts are done in Photoshop. Photoshop is raster base software and Illustrator is pure shape base software.
