Laying The First Foundation Stone

Get started on a business, or a project on the right foot. In order to become successful, your first priority is to understand the business, or a project you are getting into.

Know your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges so that you can plan for the right marketing strategies ahead. Here’s a questionnaire you can use to lay your first foundation stone.

  • What type of business are you in?
  • What is your business mission statement?
  • Specify your three most important goals?
  • Why was this company created?
  • Describe your products or services.
  • Who is your target market? Specify your target market demographically.
  • Acknowledge your stakeholders and list them in order of their importance. Understand what is expected from each stakeholder.
  • What is your strengths? Why do your customers prefer your products or services?
  • Know your competitors. Is there a competitor that you admire most? If so, why?
  • How do you promote and showcase your products and services?
  • What are the trends and changes that affect your industry?
  • Where will you be in five years? In ten years? Define your short term and long term goals.
  • How do you measure success?
  • What are the potential challenges to the success of your products or services?
  • If you could communicate a single message about your company, what would it be?
